John Legend & The Roots ‘Wake Up!’ Looks Promising

It’s hard to tell what the final outcome is going to sound like when different artists merge together for a full length project. If “The Fire” or “Doin It Again” from How I Got Over are any indication then this new effort should be something special. The fusion between John Legend and The Roots appears to be seamlessly  natural and what you get when you pair a six-time Grammy award recipient with arguably one of the best hip-hop/jazz bands is a recipe for more prized hardware. Here’s a glimpse of them together performing “Hard Times ft. Black Thought” live in the studio. This is a great display of all musical elements feeding energy off one another to make a great record. PRhyme, the duo of DJ Premier and Royce Da 5’9″, found some unexpected success late last year when they dropped their self-titled debut album. Now they're back with and updated version of the project, which features new cuts. Here they link up with The Roots' Black Thought for "Wishin' II," a track that initially featured Common.
