Kevin Liles, after five years as the EVP of Warner Music Group, announced that he will be stepping down from his position. Liles established himself at Def Jam working with Jay-Z, Kanye West, and LL Cool J and oversaw the establishment of Def Jam South, Roc-A-Fella Records and Murder Inc.

In 2004, he joined Warner Music Group along with Lyor Cohen, developing more powerhouses like Grand Hustle and Bad Boy. According to a company statement, Liles will maintain a consulting role with the label and will step down from his daily duties.

This opens up the possibilities of some one like T.I. taking over this position once he’s out of the slammer.  It would be similar to the deal The Dream just did with Def Jam.

Here’s the reson behind his decision in his own words:

“In the past couple weeks I’ve made one of the most important decisions of my life; To depart the Warner Music Group in order to focus more on new entrepreneurial endeavors in talent management, entertainment media, and my personal philanthropic and political passions.”

If this guy is leaving the game, then trust me something is wrong with the game.
