When I heard that Lil B was going to be speaking at NYU I didn’t know what he would speak about and apparently neither did he.  Lil B gave a nearly hour-and-a-half long unscripted lecture at New York University touching on subjects such as love, life, respect, positivity, politics, taxes and understanding humans by studying ant colonies.  A sold out crowd of 500 fans attended and chanted out Lil B lyrics and catch phrases throughout the night.  Lil B’s The Basedprint IImixtape was released Monday afternoon and was required listening for attendees of the lecture.  The first track on the tape is titled “NYU” in honor of the event.

Some memorable quotes from the night include “I’m out here trying to get my Mitt Romney on” and “Until further notice, I’m paying taxes and I’m loving it.”  He explained that being Based means that “you have somebody that you can trust and you don’t have to know them because you know we all have a common courtesy. It’s about having empathy now… Really caring and paying attention to someone else’s feelings.”  The Based God offered students advice such as “Experience your life and read the books and read everybody’s theories and experience your own” and to always wear seat belts and wash your hands.

He touched on what is next in his career saying he has a song coming with “one of the largest artists on Earth.”  He discussed his talent with watercolors and mentioned that he has some rare paintings available for sale, and announced that he will be releasing a rock album titled “California Boi.”  Lil B claims he has already “made rap history” so now he is “actually releasing my rock album. This is gonna be some garage punk. This one’s for the rebels. Look out for the Lil B rock record, California Boi.”

There was really no theme or point to the lecture, like most things Lil B does, but all in attendance seem to have really enjoyed it.
