Further contextualizing his 2018 album, Nasir.
In the wake of the summer onslaught that was Kanye West’s declaration of his musical excellence–which saw releases from himself, Pusha T, his duo with Kid Cudi, Kids See Ghosts–it was admittedly easy to forget Nas’ participation in this five-week release window.
His first album since 2012, Nasir didn’t necessarily receive the expected adulation–Pitchfork rated it 6.1/10. However, just because the fan and critical reaction didn’t live up to the hype, that doesn’t mean that Nas is done promoting or discussing his album.
Recently, he linked with his record label, Mass Appeal, to deliver an eye-opening short film. A complementary cinematic offering, the short film manifests themes explored on the album while creating an entertaining, informative content piece.
