What a day for Hip Hop.

It’s been a pretty special week for us. First, we were privy to the first total solar eclipse in North America’s history since 1979, and watched as our president thought that he could defy the all mighty sun. He couldn’t. Next, the universe’s cosmic excellence extended its power to the music landscape, and materialized as eight album releases from some of Hip Hop’s most exciting, most controversial, funniest, saddest, and all around great artists. Oh, what a day it is for Hip Hop heads.

Probably the most anticipated album releases go to the A$AP Mob’s Cozy Tapes Vol. 2: Too Cozy and Lil Uzi Vert’s Luv is Rage 2. The former is a victory lap album, showcasing some of the industry’s best talent, from Rocky himself to incredible features like ScHoolboy Q and Quavo. The latter, while light on the features (one from Pharrell and one from The Weeknd), demonstrates Uzi’s commercial ability and mainstream draw, as he consistently proves his ability to churn out hits.

Some of the more curious releases come from XXXtentacion and BROCKHAMPTON. This is X’s true debut project, and is self-noted as an album for those going through depression—not for those who listen to his music to not think. BROCKHAMPTON has been on a roll lately, releasing fire single after fire single en route to Saturation II, the follow-up to their early 2017 project, Saturation.

Additionally, we have projects from the long-awaited Action Bronson (Blue Chips 7000), Daniel Caesar (Freudian), Buddy (Magnolia), and Madeintyo (True’s World). Truly, it is a great day for Hip Hop.
