Get this: Kendrick Lamar’s long-awaited, highly-anticipated followup to his 2012 breakthrough album good kid, m.A.A.d city, To Pimp a Butterfly will be out in roughly ten days! And so far the rollout has been pretty swift; from “i,” to “The Blacker the Berry,” an intense performance on The Colbert Report, and the ultimate unveiling of the album title and artwork. It’s all starting to come together. And now it looks like we are being treated to the much-talked about but shrouded in mystery track “King Kunta.” “King Kunta” finds K-Dot in a similiar lane as “i” with its funky musical backdrop and live instrumentation. The track, however, has K-Dot doing a little bit more with the lyrical content, going in on racial themes and black empowerment. It’s certainly no surprise that Pharrell has called the song “so unapologetically black.” Go ahead and listen to it yourself after the jump!
