An ominous display that’s become synonymous with Night Lovell.

After intentionally removing himself from hip-hop’s narrative for almost six-months, not releasing a single since May, Night Lovell returned several weeks ago with a new single, “RIP Trust”. It was refreshing to hear from the Canadian underground rapper who puts up mainstream numbers. But it seemed ignorant to expect more new music from Lovell given his inconsistent output. Today, he’s put those fears to bed by issuing another single, “Jamie’s Sin”.

On-brand for Night Lovell, “Jamie’s Sin” is an eery offering embedded in a multitude of synths and ominous sounds. He continues deepening his dark style by complementing the production with his now staple flow—one marked by hazy, auto-tuned singing and rapping. “Jamie’s Sin” sounds like a conflicted love song; it demonstrates Lovell’s vulnerability and attempt to balance Jamie’s shortcomings with her appeal.
