Q-Tip Set To Release New Book About The Record Industry…

12A Tribe Called Quest frontman, Q-Tip signed a book deal with Ballantine Books to release Industry Rules.

Revealing experiences and anecdotes over the last two decades in the music business, the book also takes inspiration from one of Q-Tip’s most memorable lines in the 1991 classic record ‘Check The Rhime,’ “Industry rule #4080/Record company people are shady.”

Industry Rules is set to be released in 2010, which coincides with the 20th anniversary of A Tribe Called Quest’s 1990 debut album People’s Instinctive Travels And The Paths Of Rhythm.

New Music: J. Cole Remixes A Tribe Called Quest’s “Can I Kick It?”

Legendary hip-hop outfit, A Tribe Called Quest (Q-Tip, Phife, Ali Shaheed Muhammed and Jarobi), is gearing up a 25th anniversary celebration of their landmark album, People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm with an brand spankin' new, mastered reissuing of the album. In addition, the reissue is looking to deliver with bonus treats -- a trio of tributes from some big names: Cee-Lo Green remixing "Footprints", Pharrell with "Bonita Applebum" and J. Cole remaking "Can I Kick It?" Tonight, we have Dreamville's J. Cole doing a rendition of "Can I Kick It?" and, well, you have to hear it be believe it. Check out J.
