Who’s going to make the cut on Quavo’s debut solo album?
Although he can attribute most of his fame and residence as one of hip-hop’s go-to hook guys to his Migos involvement, Quavo is keen on proving that he doesn’t need to rely on Offset and Takeoff for career advancement. Announced in early September, Quavo plans to release his first solo project–the aptly titled Quavo Huncho–imminently, and has provided a much-needed glimpse into what’s to come.
Taking to his Instagram yesterday, October 1st, Quavo posted a “preseason cut” of the album’s expected featured artists. Given Quavo’s palatability, it seems that he’s attracted an eclectic range of features housed under differing hip-hop subgenres. Unsurprising names–like Offset and Takeoff–populate the list; arguably more exciting artists–like Drake, Kid, Cudi, and Travis Scott–round out the star-studded guest appearances. Other household rappers–like 21 Savage, Cardi B, Lil Baby, Saweetie, and Davido–could possibly find themselves on Quavo’s sought-after rookie solo release.
While the project was originally slated for a late September release, Quavo is taking his time perfecting the solo debut that might very well structure the next leg of his impressive career. Given that he’s already created a project without fellow his Migos members, the Travis Scott-assisted Jack Huncho, Huncho Jack, coupled with Offset and Takeoff developing solo artistic identities, it’s logical to assume that Quavo Huncho’s presumed success will incentivize Quavo to further pursue being a one-man show.
Baby steps, though–we haven’t even gotten an official release date, and these listed features are deemed the “preseason cut”. There’s still a lot that needs to transpire between now and Quavo’s full-fledged solo career.
