I know that when I bring up Canibus’ name, a lot of people think to themselves, ‘whatever happened to him.’  Believe it or not, Canibus has released nearly ten albums in the past decade, two of which came out last year.  On his last album, he did a track with DJ Premier called “Golden Terra Of Rap.”  For a lot of fans, this collaboration had been a long time in the making.  Everything seemed good between Premo and Canibus until today when Canibus released what sounds like a collaboration with Vinnie Paz that has Paz’s verse cut so Bis could rant for 5 minutes about how horrible DJ Premier is to work with.

Believe it or not, this all stems from a comment that DJ Premier made in regard to having a disagreement with Canibus over a beat he submitted for his debut.  In an inteview with VladTV, Prem said that he gave Bis the D’Angelo beat, “Devil’s Pie,”  for “Nigg*nometry,” but Canibus rejected it.  Clearly, Canibus feels slighted by DJ Premier rehashing this incident, but he seems awfully thirsty by going out of his way to talk trash about him on record, especially when he claims what Premo said was “bad for the culture.”  Also, it’s kind of feminine that he caught feelings over a comment that wasn’t even insulting.

Canibus has a notorious track record for having terrible beat selection…so when DJ Premier finally agrees to work with him, he feels insulted because he showed up late (or so he claims)?  That’s as if one of the greatest producers in Hip Hop history doesn’t have anything better to do than f*ck with an over-the-hill rapper.  Canibus also has a long history of dissing more prolific artists, all of which have made Canibus come off as mad corny.  Coming out swinging as a rookie and taking on LL was dope, but going after Eminem, Jay-Z, and now DJ Premier is just a horrible look, especially when Canibus tried to rekindle his beef with Em after five years.  That’s not to mention that Canibus just isn’t as nice as he was in ’98.  I’m sorry Bis, but you’ve got to #sitdown!
