Vince Staples is not only one of the best young rap talents emerging right now but he’s also a confident young man with great viewpoints. Lat night Staples made an appearance on “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore”, sitting in on a panel alongside comedians Mark Yard and Gina Yashere. They discussed whether or not they’d vote for an unmarried presidential candidate, and if there’s a prejudice against single people. “Most of the people in my generation who want to get married aren’t allowed to get married,” Staples pointed out. Also, Staples’ album Summertime ’06 is out June 30 via Blacksmith/Artium/Def Jam. Check out the video after the jump.
California and New York link up. A$ton Matthews (who reps Lakewood, CA) is teaming up with Harlem’s Bodega BAMZ for “Window Paint,” produced by Jordan Granados. Both Matthews and BAMZ have projects out so be sure to check those out if you’re interested. And check out the track “Window Paint” after the jump.
After appearing on many dope tracks as a featured artist, Dom Kennedy is finally dropping a solo solo. And frankly we’re not surprised at how awesome it is. Dom kills the J. LBS production on “Represent (I Like That).” Listen after the jump.
If you’re looking for some unadulterated gangsta rap sh*t look no further than Nipsey Hussle, one of West Coast’s unsung heroes during its sudden revival. And Nipsey has got you covered as he has just announced his new album Mailbox Money, which is due out December 20th. That’s the album cover above. In addition Nipsey Hussle is also sharing the album’s first single, “50 N***az.” However, if you want a physical copy of Mailbox Money you’re going to have to cough up some big bucks seeing as it’s a limited release with 100 total copies available and they’re being offered at $1000 each. Yowza! Anyway, peep Nipsey’s new track “50 N***az” after the jump.
Ty Dolla $ign knows one thing and one thing only: make hits. In 2014 the West Coast singer/rapper held his own with a string of co-writing credits for major chart-topping singles, including Chris Brown’s smash “Loyal”. Now Ty gets some help (as if he needed it to begin with) from big time music producer and overall hotshot, Diplo. In addition the underrated (but certainly not forgotten) DJ Dahi also receives production credit for “Stand For”. Listen after the jump!
Vince Staples winning streak continues as he drops the visuals for his Hell Can Wait cut “Fire”. In the video Staples finds himself situated in a church and during confession repeating (to whomever is listening) that he is going to hell. Peep the vid after the jump and do yourself a favor and check out his Hell Can Wait EP right here.
The wait is over as the young Long Beach emcee Vince Staples drops his new project, the Hell Can Wait EP on Def Jam. The EP comes a few months after he dropped the first single “Blue Suede” and a exactly a month removed from dropping “Hands Up”. Hell Can Wait features seven original tracks and may be streamed after the jump. Something tells us you’ll be bumping this one in the whip.
Flying Lotus is giving you a treat: you can now stream his outrageous, out of this world new album You’re Dead! But you gotta be quick as FlyLo is streaming the new album for only the next 24 via a continuous, looped visual, courtesy of Xavier Magot on YouTube. Go check it out after the jump. Be advised: the visuals presented are pretty freakin’ trippy.
Flying Lotus has shared the music video for his Kendrick Lamar featured track “Never Catch Me” from the forthcoming You’re Dead! album. In the haunting, yet triumphant video, two children rise from their deathbeds and begin dancing jubilantly. It’s actually quite beautiful. Check out the video after the jump.
While Ab-Soul is on his headlining These Days… tour with supporting acts Bas and EarthGang, he decided to drop an unsuspecting gem on ya’ll. It’s a new track entitled “W.W.S.D.” (What Would Soul Do?) and that’s the striking artwork above. You can peep the track after the jump.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock you already know young Vince Staples is one of the best new emcees out right now, easily. He’s a true spitter. And as if we didn’t 100% already know this, Vince Staples went and snapped all over Missy Elliott’s “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” for five minutes on Sway in the Morning. Off the top too, mind you. Go ahead and watch the video because this kid deserves the recognition; respect. After the jump.
