So this happened. Drake has released the first video for a single from his If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late album. And it’s no surprise that the song is “Energy,” a track when put on people instantly sing along. But the video is a tad bit, well, strange? Don’t get me wrong, I love when hip hop keeps it weird and funky. But I don’t what it is about the video for “Energy” that is really cringeworthy. Is it Drake strutting around in front of a white background? Is it all these random shots of equally random people? Or is it perhaps Drake being CGI’ed as Oprah, Miley Cyrus, Kanye West, and even Barack Obama? Nothing wrong with drag or impersonations but these are just so poorly done and are genuinely freaking me out. Pitchfork called the video “unbelievable” and I pray they’re referring to how absurd it is. Anyway, you be the judge. Check out Drake’s “Energy” video after the jump.
When Meek Mill isn’t receiving a complementary lap dance courtesy of his bad chick Nicki Minaj he’s dropping hot freestyles over some of the biggest tracks in rap. Here he’s taking on Drake’s “Energy” which is still bumping in cars across America. Check it out after the jump.
Styles P just can’t stop giving. I guess the “P” stands for Presents because this man has all the gifts, even when you’re least expecting ’em. After dropping some serious gems a week back with “Still Bangin'” and “Don’t Fade Em” P returns with a remix of Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late cut “Energy.” Check it out after the jump.
G-Unit stopped by DJ Self’s Power 105 show and dropped a killer freestyle. Lloyd Banks, Young Buck, and 50 Cent off on J. Cole’s “Fire Squad” and Drake’s “Energy.” Check it out after the jump!
