Philly spitter Freeway’s been dealt some awfully crummy cards throughout his life and on his latest cut, “Wasted” chronicles the many trials and tribulations of substance abuse. On the track, laced by Merc Beatz, Freeway recollects the consequences of substance abuse and the effects its had on his friends and his neighborhood. Over a sample of The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Hang Your Head in Shame,” Freeway and Scholito exchange a bevy of bars suitable for any diehard Biggie fans’ iPod. Dame Grease, the producer behind the majority of DMX’s It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot, is teaming up with King Assassin — whose worked with 2Pac and Ice T — for “My Style,” featuring a Sheek Louch, Pusha T, and Freeway. DJ Kay Slay has a new mixtape on the way entitled The Industry Purge and he’s teasing the project with some serious heat. “Memories,” a track which is set to appear on the forthcoming mixtape (dropping later tonight, so keep your ears open) features some heavy hitters in Young Buck, Freeway and Fame. On Monday March 2, 2015, New York’s very own Cannibal Ox celebrated the release of their highly-awaited sophomore album “Blade of the Ronin” with fans at the Studio at Webster Hall. Vast Aire and Vordul Mega were joined by GZA (of Wu-Tang Clan), Freeway, and G-Jet for this monumental performance. The event was hosted by Rob Markman, with music by DJ Two-Three. Freeway & the Jacka are the latest in a duo series the Philly gangster rapper has formed. His works with JakeOne and Girl Talk, respectively, were solid. Of course his State Property team were the best almost-legends that never were. “Cherry Pie” features Gibbs and singer Jynx trotting through broken ghettoes, singing a hustler song through smoke plumes.
