Jay Elec, Jay Elec, Jay Elec — where to begin? How about the fact that this dude has been teasing at new music for like — I don’t even know — almost a decade now? He’s also (reportedly) got some documentary film in the works, which is probably never gonna see the light of day. And now we’ve got a new, well, leaked track from Jay Electronica entitled “Man Up.” Apparently this track dates back to George W. Bush’s first term in office, which would mean somewhere between the years 2001-2005. The track is also produced by Jay Elec. Listen to the leaked track, “Man Up,” after the jump.
The mysterious Jay Electronica has shared a new track entitled “Road to Perdition.” The song features a sample of Jay-Z’s “Success” from his 2007 album American Gangster. No word as to whether or not this track will appear on a new Jay Electronica project, which has been in limbo since forever ago. This is the first new song Jay Electronica has shared since last year’s “Better in Tune With the Infinite.” He is also starring in the film Into the Light which is scheduled to be released this year. Listen to “Road to Perdition” after the jump.
After dropping two tracks from their forthcoming PRhyme collaborative project, Royce Da 5’9″ & DJ Premier go ahead and share the artwork (above) and tracklist. Needless to say it looks like it’ll be a solid project overall based on what we are seeing here. Nine total tracks with Preem handling production and a slew of awesome, awesome guest spots. Everything from Ab-Soul to Jay Electronica to Schoolboy Q to Killer Mike, there is something here for everyone. PRhyme will be out December 9th. Peep the tracklist for PRhyme after the jump!
Sorry, no new material here. The highly reclusive Jay Electronica may not be dropping new music any time (though he promised… on many occasions) but he is starring in an upcoming film. The film in question, Into the Light, directed by Jason Goldwatch and produced by Mass Appeal, will be released in 2015 and is of the experimental variety. Meaning the plot synopsis isn’t quite clear, but what really is with Jay Elec nowadays? Watch the trailer for Into the Light after the jump.
Both Vince Staples and Jay Electronica gave Common a helping hand during his AAHH! festival performance over the weekend and today Common delivers a remix of “Kingdom” featuring the two rappers. The original, which appears on Common’s excellent Nobody’s Smiling album, gets a nice boost of energy from the youthful Vince Staples and a solid verse from Jay Electronica. The track is said to be performed live at the BET Hip-Hop Awards on Oct. 14th during a tribute to the late Mike Brown. After the jump.
Jay Electronica has been hinting at a big announcement during his performance at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival. He’s added all of his music to a long-abandoned SoundCloud page. He’s been on Twitter again, ranting, after a lengthy absence. AND HE BROUGHT OUT JAY Z FOR HIS PERFORMANCE! Might this be the release that defines his elusive career? Watch after the jump.

So much here. So much. Jay Electronica meeting the Pro Era crew in Croatia at a video shoot to tell Joey Bada$$ that his name rings bells in London. Then, if that wasn’t forceful enough, he advises him to ignore anyone ‘taking shots’ to bring him down. The rap world is aware, and they’re proud. Also, really fine women in Croatia.
