Guess he’s still able to get features…

Tekashi 6ix9ine, love him or loathe him, is a fascinating case study: eccentric outsider infiltrates hip-hop and gang culture, ascends both ranks, reaches the pinnacle, snitches on crew — you know the story. Now out on house arrest for over a month, it’s been business as usual: record-breaking single, trolling the tire internet and anyone who slanders him.

Tekashi, for all intents and purposes, is winning. He might not be using a respectable formula to attain this success, but at the end of the day, he’s one of  — if not the — the most-discussed cultural figures. And to fuel haters’ fire even more, he’s recently unveiled jaw-dropping details for upcoming singles.

The first is most likely a knife twisting in hip-hop heads’ hearts: the Akon-endorsed remix to “Locked Up.” The two were seen on IG earlier this week vibing out to the classic’s new rendition, creating an incredibly polarizing reaction — truly, a microcosm for 6ix9ine himself.

The second is probably a little less surprising: a feature from Nicki Minaj on their upcoming single, “TROLLZ.” Tekashi posted a picture on Instagram earlier, accompanied by the caption, “nObOdY gOiN To WoRk wiTH HiM No mOrE … PORTION OF THE PROCEEDS FROM TROLLZ WILL GO TO BAILING OUT PROTESTERS.”

While Nicki and Tekashi worked together on “FEFE,” it’s still somewhat of a shock that he’s managed to secure an assist from an artist like Nicki, given the industry’s promised blackballing of him.

The “TROLLZ” video drops tomorrow at midnight.

The jury is out on the quality of the songs themselves, but with Tekashi’s master marketing skills and these popular names, it’s almost a foregone conclusion that they’ll break the internet.
