Tekashi Has Returned

Breaking an Instagram Live record in the process.

Hate him or love him, Tekashi 6ix9ine has made an art out of putting up numbers. With chart-topping singles, well over a billion total YouTube views, and the seemingly infinite beefs he gets involved in, Tekashi is a master marketer. And now that his long-awaited return has been made official with “GOOBA,” his first single and video in nearly two-years, Tekashi’s taken to Instagram Live to officially reintrdouce himself to the world — and doing so in a record-breaking fashion.

Last week, 6ix9ine announced that he’d be going live today (May 8th) at 3PM. While the start time was a little delayed, the viewers kept pouring in like a busted fire hydrant on a summer day. In a matter of minutes, Tekashi broke the previous IG Live record of 380k, held by Tory Lanez, with a whopping 2mm tuned-in.

Entering his Live session in the most Tekashi way ever (dancing with a pair of handcuffs to “Bad Boys” by Bob Marley), Tekashi eventually changed to a more serious tone. He took the opportunity to defend himself against those calling him a rat, reasserted himself as the King of New York, and proved how he’s a Hall of Fame troll.
