I think they’ve made their mommas proud.

2 Chainz elated the rap community with his barely advertised four-track EP, The Play Don’t Care Who Makes It. Sounding almost like a musical surplus from his acclaimed 2017 album, Pretty Girls Like Trap Music, this EP provided a necessary bridge in 2 Chainz’ work, holding us over until his next studio album drops. Among these four tracks, one stands out from the rest: “Proud” featuring YG and Offset.

The song’s concept is simple: they all just want to make their mothers proud. That’s why they do what they do–to cash in on their talents and alluring images to better the women who raised them, who sacrificed for them. But how can we thoroughly enjoy a song without an accompanying video? Well, as of late last night, the threesome came through with the “Proud” visual that they began teasing on social media weeks ago. And the product is fantastic.

Joining the three rap kings are the very individuals who inspired the track: their mothers. Assuming the identities of their respective sons, the “Proud” video shows the moms rapping their sons’ parts while being cloaked in traditional hip-hop garb. This might be the best early Mother’s Day present ever.
