Featuring GoldLink, Blood Orange, & Jaden Smith.
Tyler, The Creator made history with his fifth studio album, IGOR. Not only did the Odd Future founder nab his first number-one album, but he also became the first hip-hop artist to secure the lauded top spot with an entirely self-produced and arranged album. Beating out DJ Khaled’s purportedly commercial-friendlier Father of Asahd, IGOR’s explosive first week saw the 12-track project move 165,000 album equivalent units.
An album replete with accomplishments for the dynamic artist, IGOR is as thematically-impressive as it is sonically, seeing our protagonist mourn a tormented love affair, painting him as the story’s “beast,” as the “igor.” A dense, masterful project, the initial awe-inspired listen crescendos into a deeper understanding with successive listens, positioning IGOR as a complex mosaic whose embryonic surface level beauty acts as the appetizer for its conceptually-rich entrée.
But, as with most projects, IGOR’s complete beauty can only presumably be holistically appreciated in a live setting. Now, fans will have access to just that as Tyler has announced the IGOR tour lineup.
A two-month musical excursion, Tyler will be starting his tour on August 30th in Seattle, playing 34-shows, domestically and internationally; the tour will culminate in Houston on October 26th.
Joining Tyler on the IGOR Tour will be GoldLink, Blood Orange, and Jaden Smith.
