As Wale prepares his sixth studio album, set to drop sometime this year, he’s come through with a little taste of what to expect with the succinct loosie, “Daylight.”
With cover art that reads “My album finished, I’m just out here playin’,” Wale seems like he’s simply having fun while taking the Thelonious Martin-produced track for a lyrical joyride. He’s simply out here proving why he deserves attention through musical actions instead of unproven and empty declarations.
Spitting over a nostalgic-sounding beat, one that would’ve found comfort in the ‘90s, Wale demonstrates how he still is one of the game’s more adept lyricists.
