Da Brat Having Prison Talent Show?

Female MC Da Brat, real name Shawntae Harris, is trying to stay busy while serving a 3-year assault sentence. She was sentenced to 3 years in prison last year for assaulting Atlanta Falcons cheerleader Shayla Stevens at ATL’s Lawrenceville Highway nightclub in November 2007. The rapper reportedly struck Stevens in the head with a bottle of rum, resulting in her falling down some stairs on to a cement floor causing severe facial cuts.
Trying to make the most of her time behind bars, she is allegedly organizing a talent show for her fellow inmates at the Alto Federal State prison in ATL. Basing the program on the Showtime at the Apollo series, she is calling the show “Showtime at Alto” and allowing her fellow inmates to showcase their talents. Da Brat even reached out to longtime friend DJ Nabs to provide music for the show. Da Brat hopes that prison officials will turn her idea into an annual event.
