The opening track from his Role Model album.

Impressively, Young Dolph moved over 30k units in its first week for his September-released album, Role Model–a relatively high figure given his independent status. Rapping about a bevy of topics, Dolph seamlessly weaves between heart-wrenching tales of his harrowing adolescence to talking about the trap that shaped him.

Of those tracks that belong in the former category, “Black Queen”, the album’s lead-in song, is a sentimental tribute to his parents and his love for them–thorns and all. Even though they exposed him to crack smoking at an early age, including while his mother was pregnant with him, he’s thankful for the difficult life because it made Dolph, Dolph; it’s in these moments of difficulty that diamonds are made.

Bringing “Black Queen” to life, Dolph came through today with the track’s video.
