Soon come?

When it comes to prolificacy and creative risks, few can give Young Thug a run for his money. Whether he’s adhering to a traditional trap aesthetic or digging into his singing bag, Thugger is constantly innovating and dropping, never depriving fans of content or novelty. After releasing the lauded So Much Fun this past August, Thug revealed that his next project, Punk, was in the works. Now, it looks like we have an actual release timeframe.

While Thug originally told The FADER that he would dovetail Punk with So Much Fun by releasing it only a few weeks after its predecessor, it’s been subjected to delays. However, Thug recently announced that Punk is expected to arrive in February 2020. Punk will be Young Thug’s official sophomore studio album.

In the same FADER interview, Thug informed the publication that Punk will pose a conceptual contrast to So Much Fun’s “lightheartedness” by exploring more serious matters — like the inner depths of his unique psyche. A unicorn in his own right with a harrowing past that has structured his innovative music career, the Barter 6 rapper has converted his pain into triumph, and offers an individualistic perspective that aims to be further revealed with Punk.

Album delays have, unfortunately, become an industry staple, so the jury is out on whether or not Punk will actually arrive within the next two-months.

Regardless of Punk’s actual drop date, knowing Thug and his penchant for creativity and boundary-pushing content, it will be worth the wait.
