Bobby Brown will receive Boston’s top music honor at the 20th Boston Music Awards. Brown has been tapped for an induction into the BMA’s Hall of Fame for his musical accomplishment.

“That’s special, because it’s from Boston and I’m from Boston,” Brown told hometown paper Boston Herald. “That’s the best honor and the only honor I respect because it’s where I come from and Boston is in my heart. This is better than the Grammy Awards, the American Music Awards, because Boston is givin’ me an award, that’s everything to me.”

The R&B singer is currently on a six-city trek to try to resuscitate his music career. Brown had a stint on CMT’s reality show Gone Country, alongside other fallen music stars like Carnie Wilson and Sisqo.

The former star of Bravo’s “Being Bobby” TV series broke up with his wife Whitney Houston earlier this year, and now dates his manager Alicia Etheridge.
