Chris Rock And His ‘Nappy’ Lawsuit

It seems like Chris Rock may be in some legal trouble because of his new movie, Regina Kimbell says she showed Chris her 2005 documentary, “My Nappy Roots,” on the set of his TV series, “Everybody Hates Chris,” back in 2007. Then, according to the suit filed in U.S. District Court in downtown L.A., he stole the idea for his documentary, “Good Hair,” which will open on Friday.

Kimbell’s film features celebs who discuss styles like the conk, the Afro, the Jheri curl and dreadlocks. Rock’s film also uses celebs to look at the efforts black women use to get that European look.

Kimbel wants no less than $5 mil in damages, lets hope the movie makes enough to cover it just in case.

Legendary comedian Chris Rock is certainly no stranger to hip-hop. The South Carolina born, Brooklyn raised comedian has published a list on his website documenting his 25 favorite rap albums, cowrote and starred in the 1993 film CB4 which parodies gangsta rap, appeared on rap songs by Ludacris, Ol' Dirty Bastard, and Ice Cube, and in the past has even criticized contemporary rap. But perhaps Chris Rock's hip-hop pinnacle was reached in 2010 when he appeared on Kanye West's now magnum opus album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Rock was asked by 'Ye to appear on the song "Blame Game," in which Rock provided an extended monologue. So maybe Rock is a little bit biased when he recently called Kanye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy as the "greatest hip-hop album of all-time" in a HOT 97 interview. Drake's "6 God" instrumental gets a freestyle from somebody everyone least expected. Tyler James Williams, the actor who is best known for portraying a young Chris Rock on the hit show Everybody Hates Chris stopped by Sway. But the interview took an interesting turn when Sway dropped the instrumental to Drake's newly released "6 God". That's when Tyler snapped, spitting a godly freestyle. The boy done growed up, ya'll. Chris Rock & Dave Chappelle Hold Impromptu Performance In NYC

File this in the "Why Wasn't I There?" section.  Two of comedy's biggest names shared the stage early Tuesday morning in an impromptu performance at New York City's Comedy Cellar.  Throughout the week the two have performed separately at the Cellar, trying out new material; Rock because he's preparing for an new standup special, and Chappelle because…well, who knows, just be thankful he's still doing standup.  After performing solo for about 45 minutes, Dave Chappelle was joined by Chris Rock who took the stage to tell the audience, "Aw, you lucky motherf*ckers."
