DaBaby Switches Up Flow On New Snippet

This is going to be a heater.

While DaBaby is undoubtedly one of today’s most promising stars (after all, he was named Complex’s 2019 “Rapper of The Year”), there has been one critique stalking him throughout his career: his use of only one flow. With such an energetic, zealous style, DaBaby’s music is tailor made for club nights, pre-games, parties — honestly, any situation requiring upbeat vibes — but this curried favor has grown stale to some.

Well, the KIRK rapper is intent on changing the record, as a snippet he recently released for a new single is antithetical to his singular flow.

A couple of days ago, DaBaby posted footage to his Instagram, showing himself and presumably his producer or engineer vibing out to a banger-in-the-making. Skating on a trap instrumental that sounds rooted in 2000s R&B, he seamlessly switches between an auto-tune-assisted hook and a mellow flow.

Instead of taking over the beat, DaBaby works in-tandem with the instrumental to create a vibey offering that’s destined to be a chart-topper; it almost acts as an NBA duo putting aside egos for the greater good of a championship.

It’s unclear when this snippet will materialize as an official release, but for now, this preview has us chomping at the bit for new DaBaby.
