Winning a whopping 12 trophies.
Time for Drake to make more room on his crowded mantle — the superstar received his 27th Billboard Music Award last night at the award show’s 28th airing.
Not only is this monumental news for Drizzy, it’s groundbreaking for the industry at large as Drake now holds the title for most BBMAs. With his first coming in 2016 for Top Rap Artist, it’s impressive that he’s managed to accrue an additional 26 in such a short time.
Heading into yesterday’s show with 15 BBMAs to his name, Drake stole the night by earning a whopping 12 awards of the 17 he was nominated for, including for Top Rap Album, Top Rap Artist, Top Artist, and Top Hot 100 Artist.
Given the palatability and ubiquity of Drake’s Scorpion, which is platinum-certified and moved 732,000 first-week units, it’s no surprise that the 6 God swept the 2019 Billboard Music Awards.
An adaptable musician fluid with the times, Drake seems to not only remain relevant, but preeminent.
Congrats to Drizzy on all of his hard-earned success.
