Drizz has some answers for Pusha T.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock with Patrick Star, you’re aware that we’re witnessing one of the most succulent hip-hop beefs in recent memory. With the street warrior, Pusha T, facing-off against the palatable pop star, Drake, it’s hip-hop’s two sides going at each other’s jugulars–with no topic off limits. Push’s latest response, “The Story of Adidon”, flagrantly confirms that latter point.
From uncovering some haunting skeletons, like exposing Drake’s hidden baby momma, “The Story of Adidon” is a no holds-barred submission of the Canadian superstar. And while the song’s lyrical content certainly turned heads and made skin crawl, the track’s cover art was one of the main topics of discussion: a young Drake in black face makeup. Despite not issuing his rebuttal yet, Drake released an official statement late last night addressing the picture.
In his IG story, Drake said how the picture was from a photo shoot he did with his friend in 2007. The picture’s purpose wasn’t to perpetuate racist projections–quite the contrary. Drake used the popular 19th century style to illuminate the entertainment industry’s fiery racist underbelly that strongly persists today. In his post, Drake said, “This was to highlight and raise our frustrations with not always getting a fair chance in the industry and to make a point that the struggle for black actors has not changed much.”
Considering that Push also verbally accosted Drake’s best friend/producer, 40, over his crippling illness, MS, the diss track rebuttal should be, hopefully, equally, if not more, scathing than “The Story of Adidon”.
