iHipHop AdminWith all the buzz and top box office earnings over the weekend, Showtime has announced that they are teaming with Forest Whitaker to produce “Mr. Untouchable,” a drama series based on the life and times of Harlem heroin dealer, Leroy ‘Nicky’ Barnes.
In the film ‘American Gangster’, Barnes is portrayed by Cuba Gooding Jr., but there’s no word on who will portray the gangster in the drama series. According to Variety, the series will tell the story of how Barnes built a drug empire in the 1970s that rivaled that of the Italian Mafia. It will show how he rose to great heights, but with his success coming at the expense of his Harlem community. The show will also detail the government’s war on drugs and how it failed for years to bring Barnes down.
There’s no word on when production will begin or when Showtime plans to begin airing the series.

As long as Forest Whitaker ain’t playing the role of Nicky Barnes then we good. Why don’t we make a movie on how white folks just fucks up everything they put they hands into like this Gulf War?

Lets make a movie that can bring us together instead of living in La la land.Lets talk about how Amerigo Vespucci’s ships crew was all black and that a black man really discovered America and Amerigo just committed mutiny on the crew and took over and named it his huh? If I had the means to do it then I would but I don’t. One dopeboy movie is enough, Yes contraversy,sex,and drugs sell but so does black history and racism and hatred. But the powers that be won’t let a movie like this hit the scene because they know that once our people learn the truth then they are done and closet doors start to open and shit hits the fan…..OH BOY.
You gotta admit that American gangsta was a good movie. If this series about Nickey Barnes got you mad, expect to get even more mad when a movie or series comes out about all east coast drug lords of the 70’s and 80’s in the next few years. You know how the media is. Look at reality TV, one is good so it spawns hundreds more. It will be the same for drug dealers. Ger ready for a new genre
