BigXthaPlug, who’s as hot as a furnace in the dead of winter, drops his latest album TAKE CARE. The Dallas-native has been building up to this moment from late Spring when he hopped on Shaboozey’s “Drink Don’t Need No Mix.” Since then, he’s dropped a couple of singles including “The Largest” and “Change Me.” What separates BigX from the surplus of talent in the rap game is two-fold: his beat selection and boisterous voice. His entertaining and engaging presence on social media doesn’t hurt either, but the music feels refreshing and new, although hip-hop heads might argue he’s a modern-day version of UGK. Regardless, you won’t be disappointed by his latest album.
Meanwhile, Rod Wave releases his highly-anticipated album LAST LAP. His blueprint is generally the same on this project, but we’re not mad about it. He’s had a stronghold on emotional rap for several years at this point, yet continues to refine his style and excel as the leader of the sub-genre. “Federal Nightmares” stands on its own as one of the more exciting tracks from the project, as the beat selection is more upbeat and synth-driven. Rod does the beat justice too, floating in and out of different melodies with grace and elegance. Check it out on the Forever Cold playlist now.
