He starts off the new year with a strong single.
Last year, Tecca released the sequel to his debut album “We Love You Tecca 2.” It performed well, debuting at number 10 on the Billboard 200, albeit not nearly as well as its predecessor, which debuted at number 4. Tecca’s mastered his melodic rap style, but for him to evolve and create his best music, he may have to experiment with styles outside of his comfort range. It’s not that his sound is becoming stale – he’s still got one of the most addictive voices on the rap scene – but the performance of his last album certainly says something about how people are perceiving his new music.
His new single “Fallin” is within the scope of everything he’s done in the past, just more refined. He hits a flow in the middle of the song that actually might be some of the best rapping he’s done. However, with the surplus of melodic rap, I think Tecca needs to experiment with various types of production in order to build a craze similar to his 2018-19 come up. Who knows, maybe his voice sounds great over a stripped down trap beat.
