Lil Yachty keeps his foot on the gas with his latest single and video.
It’s been an impressive start to the year for Lil Yachty. He’s been moving like a traditional artist since dropping his album “Let’s Start Here,” not necessarily looking for short lived viral moments, like when he released “Poland.” Rather, he’s mixing in highly-touted press opportunities and live performances, like SNL, an interview with Zane Lowe, and a beachside conversation with Drake. It’s interesting that he followed up such a viral moment like “Poland” with an extreme change of direction, both musically and from a PR standpoint. Regardless, it’s inspiring to watch an artist try something new and succeed at it, which Yachty is proving to his fans by the day.
His latest single “Strike (Holster)” is sonically consistent with his latest album but it feels like it has been received differently, possibly because it’s a single. With Cole Bennett directing the music video, it’s possible this track becomes bigger than any of the tracks on the album. We’ll just have to wait and see.
