SamNipsey is making good music right now. I have been critical of his business, but maybe I have should more empathy for the fact Nip is concentrating on being a better artist. I think he is at this point where he has recorded a plethora of music. While he may not be getting an formal introduction to the masses via a major label debut album, that doesn’t mean Nip’s music can’t speak for itself and win in the long run. I think part of the problem is that Nipsey makes the type of music that is tough for the modern day record executive to monetize. Or at least they are scared to try. Which puts Nip in a precarious situation. However if you look at a lot of successful rappers they have initially failed in their first major record deal, only to go on to succeed. Be sure to cop that The Marathon mixtape.
