Billionaire talk-show host Oprah Winfrey has thrown her full financial weight behind Democrat Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential bid. According to the Chicago Sun Times, Oprah held a star-studded fund-raiser for Obama at her Montecito estate last weekend.

“I haven’t been actively engaged before because there hasn’t been anything to be actively engaged in. But I am engaged now to make Barack Obama the next president of the United States,” Oprah reportedly told the crowd.

Celebrities in attendance included: Sydney Poitier, Bill Russell, Forrest Whitaker, Cindy Crawford, and Babyface. Stevie Wonder supplied entertainment for the night, performing hits from his 70’s and 80’s catalog.

The $2300-per-ticket event helped raise $3 million for Senator Obama’s campaign.

  1. Kaneika, are you out of your mind or are you living in lala land? Obama will not win even if he cheats!!! This world is f’d up and it is not made for true black prosperity. You can make it only so far as a black man in this country. I bet a woman or even a black woman will become president before a black-man. Matter of a fact I will bet anybody on this sight $100,000 dollars that Obama dont win.
