Playboi Carti is securely one of this generation’s most exciting artists. A master of manipulating words and sounds into a sonically-addictive product, Carti’s eccentric style has made him a commodity. His symphonic seedlings that were scattered throughout his self-titled debut album fully materialized on his sophomore successor, Die Lit, but with over one-year since its release, fans are itching for the next step in the Carti saga. With a recent announcement, it looks like they’re going to receive just that.
Over the weekend, Playboi Carti offered a necessary update on his third studio album, Whole Lotta Red, that not only confirms its existence, but its imminence. On Saturday (July 27th), while performing at The Eagle’s Ballroom in Milwaukee, WI, Carti elated the audience by informing them that Whole Lotta Red will drop sometime in the next 60-days and that it won’t have any features.
Addressing the crowd from the stage, Carti said, “I’m trying to drop that shit in the next 60 days … I ain’t gon’ lie. It feel like we worked too hard for this moment. So, I’ma do this shit with no features.”
Although other album details remain relatively scarce, Carti seems to be fully locked-in, and Whole Lotta Red seems to be on the horizon.
