Producer To Watch: YC

Using few melodic elements and hard-hitting drums, YC has established himself as the go-to producer for a few of hip-hop’s biggest names. Although he uses simple structures and few instruments in the majority of his production, his beats never feel bland. YC needs only a few seconds to draw you in, then, once he has your attention, he uses subtle percussion and melodic layers to keep his records entertaining.

Fewer producers had a more successful 2020 than YC, and his hard work is still paying off in 2021. He collaborated with Moneybagg Yo on his project, “Time Served,” which saw the song, “Protect Da Brand,” reach number 89 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart earlier this year. Even more impressive, YC is also the producer behind Pooh Shiesty’s hit, “Back in Blood,” which currently sits at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. This year, we expect YC’s tag, “Turn me up YC!” to grace the beginning of many more charting hits.
