Rexx Life Raj isn’t an ordinary musician. In today’s saturated hip-hop landscape, Rexx stands out by going against the grain to produce novel songs predicated on pensive writing and a heightened musical sensibility. This individualism not only exists within his music, but also within his release strategy. Ignoring the traditional Friday drop day, Rexx Life Raj chose yesterday (November 6th) to release his new album, Father Figure 3: Somewhere Out There.

Anchored by singles “Moonwalk” (produced by Kenny Beats), “Your Way” featuring Kehlani, “No Permission Needed” featuring Bas, and “Falling” featuring Russ, Father Figure 3: Somewhere Out There comes in at 15-tracks, spanning 48-minutes. Representative of his personal brand, the new Rexx album presents a musical melting pot aesthetic, conflating differing vibes to curate a unique listening experience.

Father Figure 3: Somewhere Out There directly follows Rexx’s 2018 EP, California Poppy, and is the conceptual successor to his 2017 project, Father Figure 2: Flourish.
