With so much heat dropping earlier in the day, it’s only fitting that the motor of today’s “New Music Friday” continues redlining. Joining Earl, Gang Starr, and Westside Gunn is Ski Mask The Slump God with his new single, “Carbonated Water”.
Teased yesterday with the track’s dope cover art, which looks like a hand-painted oil piece, Ski Mask comes through with his heater of a loosie, “Carbonated Water.” As the title suggests, the new Ski song bubbles fervently, crescendoing with the lo-fi, speaker-compromising Ronny J beat under Ski’s lexical machine gun.
Much like Ski himself, “Carbonated Water” is jarring, it is different, and it is excellent. It adds a necessary, unique texture to today’s “New Music Friday.”
