Prosecutors are contemplating charges against Snoop Dogg after authorities found a 21-inch collapsible baton in his laptop case as he boarded a New York-bound flight on September 27, 2006.

Snoop, born Calvin Broadus, told sheriff’s deputies that the baton was a prop for a movie he was filming in New York, said sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino.

"He had a collapsible baton and it is classified as a dangerous weapon," Amormino said, adding that the stick collapsed to eight inches.

District attorney spokeswoman Susan Kang Schroeder said her office received the sheriff’s report on Monday. She said prosecutors had not yet decided whether to press charges Snoop Dogg, who was not arrested.

It’s not the first time Snoop, 35, has had problems at an airport.

Earlier in May, the veteran emcee accepted responsibility for using "threatening words" in a brawl at Heathrow Airport, London. Snoop and five others were arrested on charges of violent disorder after some members of his entourage were denied entry to British Airways’ first-class lounge. Consequently, Snoop Dogg was banned from all travels on the British Airways airline.
