On Thursday November 29, the inaugural J.A.M. (Justice, Arts & Music) Awards will go down at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. The awards show not only honors Jam Master jay but the positive aspects of hip-hop. Among the honorees are Kanye West, Wyclef Jean, Spike Lee, Chuck D and Dr. Cornell West.
Guests for the award show include Snoop Dogg, Everlast, DJ Muggs, DMC, De La Soul, Q-Tip, Mobb Deep, Marley Marl, Dead Prez, Raekwon, Kid Capri, EPMD, Lord Finesse, Bumpy Knuckles, DJ Kay Slay and Jim Jones.
“Jason [aka Jam Master Jay] was a big influence on me when I was first getting into rap,” Everlast said in a statement. “This is an opportunity to show my respect and to raise money for a very worthy cause.”
A portion of proceeds from the show will go to the Jam Master Jay Foundation for Music, a non-profit organization started by Mizell’s widow Terri, providing funding and resources to support free public school music education programs.
