When Port Arthur, Texas rapper Pimp C passed away in 2007, he left behind a legacy spanning over two decades. During his time in UGK, Pimp rapped and produced some of the group's most memorable songs; from their watershed 1996 album Ridin' Dirty to "International Players Anthem (I Choose You)" in 2007 -- the year of his untimely death -- his music will certainly live on forever. All things considered, it's only right for a posthumous Pimp album to ultimately manifest today. “This album is the culmination of years of work from not just me, but also the amazing artists and producers who contributed to make it happen,” his widow Chinara Butler says of Long Live the Pimp. “It combines several of the ideas and projects my husband began before his untimely passing. We hope the Trill fans enjoy it.” And with guests that include Bun B, Nas, T.I., Juicy J, A$AP Rocky, Slim Thug, Ty Dolla $ign, and many more, Long Live the Pimp is a 17-track long effort that will not only keep long time fans of Pimp C (and UGK) satisfied but give new listeners a taste of what made him so special to the rap game.
