?uestlove just announced the 2010 Roots Picnic lineup via Twitter. The third installment of this Philadelphia event, taking place on the Penn’s Landing Festival Pier on June 5th, has the most eclectic lineup yet, with indie-rock darlings Vampire Weekend heading a bill of underground hip hop and rock music. ?uesto makes the announcement on the same day as the 1-year anniversary of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and he sends his video message from the backstage area of the show during rehearsals. One item of note is a surprise reunion that ?uesto claims is even better than last year’s Public Enemy “It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back” performance at the Picnic, and is “a reunion we thought we’d never get.” He then puts on a gold chain and top hat while rocking a B-Boy stance, leading me to believe that they’ll be performing as the house band for a Run DMC reunion. that’s just a guess though. See below for the announcement video from ?uestlove as well as the full announced lineup. Also, leave a comment below if you have a better idea for the surprise reunion!
