Grab your kitten mittens, snuggle up in your Dick Towel, cook your milk steak (boiled hard with raw jelly beans of course), and get ready for the sixth season of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. I was originally disappointed with the last season of Always Sunny, but I guess I wasn’t blazing that funk correctly (imagine that?) because when I re-watched those episodes I was cheessin’.  Controversial topics dealt with in the upcoming season include gay marriage, divorce law exploitation, obsessive compulsive disorder, class struggles, and rumor has it, Dee gets knocked up in one episode.  Season 6 of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia kicks off this Thursday at 10 pm Eastern on FX.

Chances are if you tuned in to Always Sunny last season, you caught the sleeper hit known as The League.  Starring the ever so comical Nick Kroll and Paul Scheer, The League utilizes a fantasy football league as the vehicle for the show’s comical exploits.  The season is set to open with Andre taking the crew to Vegas for their fantasy draft.  The draft erupts in controversy when Jenny attempts to join the league after years of helping her husband advance within it.  Will Andre get back with Shiva?  Who will take home the Shiva Award this year?  Better question: will Taco finally get a job?  I don’t think his homemade deodorant is hitting the market anytime soon.  The League once again follows It’s Always Sunny and airs this Thursday at 10:30 pm Eastern of FX.

Although FX may be dominating cable’s lineup on Thursday nights, HBO has secured a two hour block of daNkness for Sunday evening.  This Sunday marks the debut of the Terrance Winter/Martin Scorsese series Boardwalk Empire.  Based on the Nelson Johnson’s nonfiction book Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times and Corruption of Atlantic City the show stars Steve Buscemi as Enoch “Nucky” Thompson, a seedy politician who has Atlantic City under his thumb through racketeering.  With the emergence of prohibition comes a new opportunity for Nucky to ‘diversify his bonds’ so to speak.  He begins bootlegging booze and quickly gains the attention of Agent Van Alden (Michael Shannon).   The pilot episode is fully directed by Scorsese and should be nothing less than epic.   Boardwalk Empire debuts this Sunday at 9 pm on HBO.

Starting September 26th, Bored To Death will follow Boardwalk Empire.  The title is justified in my opinion, but a lot of people seem to enjoy it.   Starring Jason Schwartzman, Zach Galifianakis, and Ted Danson, Bored To Death chronicles writer Jonathan Ames (Schwartzman) who moonlights as a white wine-drinking private investigator ….Bored To Death return for its second season Sunday September 26th at 10 pm on HBO.

HBO really hit a grand slam by renewing the ridiculously hilarious Eastbound & Down.  Danny McBride stars as the egocentric, former baseball powerhouse Kenny Powers, who has quickly become my favorite television character.  The first season ended with the bigoted Kenny Powers abandoning the love of his life, April, rather than facing the humiliation of telling her that his deal with Tampa never went through.  Picking up where he left off, Kenny is supposed to head South of the border and play in a Mexican league.  Is it an understatement to say, “hilarity will ensue?”  The Will Ferrell and Adam McKay produced hit returns September 26th at 10:30 pm on HBO…watch it or “you’re f*cking out!”
