Weezy’s No Ceilings mixtape was a classic and will forever be known as his last project before going to jail. One of his Young Money soldiers, Drake, recently sat down with MTV and discussed his remix to Weezy’s “I’m Single” off the tape.

Drizzy explains that he was enamored with the song, wanting it for himself, but got the chance to do his part on the remix. Drake says:

“I love that song. I love that song. 40 produced that record for Wayne. I did that a while ago. I love that song. It’s one of those songs I wish was my song. I tried to slither my way on that record. I called Tez like, ‘Tez, let me get on that hook.’ There’s a version with me on it. I don’t know if it’s gonna get out there. Music is someone else’s creation. Once it’s done, it’s hard to say I wanna be a part of it. But me and Wayne, I get excited when Wayne wants to be on one of my songs. Musically we share that. We like doing songs together. I don’t think it’s a bad thing when we do songs together. … So there’s definitely a version with me on it. But that song is amazing on its own.”

A video was recently shot for the original version by none other than Weezy’s life capturer videographer DJ Scoob Doo. Scoob spoke to MTV also about the video, saying:

“The thing with Wayne, if you don’t get a chance to see how hard he worked on the record, and the wit and pizzazz he had with it, he wants to give you that same feeling the first time you hear it. Which he does audio-wise, but him performing it for you in the studio is what really it’s about as far as this video.”

“I was there, Mack Maine was there. Mally G was there. This is the first time he’s playing it. It’s history. When you hear a song for the first time, you always remember where you was when you heard it. Even if the cameras wasn’t there to capture it, that’s exactly what it would be. That’s the great thing about the video, it’s authentic. It’s your front seat. Enjoy your seat!”

Birdman also recently spoke about how Weezy’s keeping busing in jail. He explains that Wayne’s been working out, saying:

“He’s up to about 15,000 situps and 20,000 push ups and that was only last week.”

Damn, Weezy’s going to come out a new person…
