Rappers aren’t the only ones going to jail these days. It’s looking like Wesley Snipes will be hitting the big house for his refusal to pay taxes. According to CNN:
- A federal appeals court has denied actor Wesley Snipes’ claim that his three-year prison sentence for tax evasion was “unreasonable.”
A panel of judges in the 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals upheld Snipes’ 2008 sentencing on three misdemeanor counts of failing to file tax returns.
“The district court acted well within its considerable discretion in sentencing Snipes to thirty-six months in prison,” the judges said.
I mean this sucks, and I know us hip-hop heads are all about being anti establishment, but the United Stated government is the biggest gang in the world. They will get their cut. And if you try to be shady and send all of your money to foreign bank accounts without paying taxes, they will track you down Jason Bourne style and lock you up. Although it seems whack to me that Wesley coughed up 5 Mil and they are stick locking him up for three years? Three years? That seems exessive for a victimless crime. Maybe one year. Hopefully he only has to serve a year and a half or something.
