Album Review: Triple C’s- Custom Cars & Cycles

Its always been an unwritten rule to put your crew on once you’ve gained a level of security within your own career, and following that code of the streets is none other than the boss himself; Rick Ross.
After finishing up a tri-fecta of solid albums in Port Of Miami, Trilla, and Deeper Than Rap; he releases Custom Cars & Cycles featuring his crew, Carol City Cartel (Triple C).
Besides shining light on Gunplay, Torch, and Young Breed; Ross also shares the love, and invites a supporting cast of Young Jeezy, Game, Birdman, Yo Gotti, Gucci Mane, Bun B, Mack 10, and Warren G.
With Ricky Ross spearheading the whole operation, Triple C’s follow his lead into the world of narcotic sales, stamped passports with global destinations, and material items that should be showcased on VH1’s The Fabulous Life Of…
The project does feature strong production throughout, with songs like ‘Custom Cars & Clips,’ ‘White Sand,’ ‘Break It Down’ (feat. Bun B), ‘Gangsta Sh*t’ (feat. Game), ‘Trickin’ Off’ (feat. Gucci Mane), and the West Coast feel of ‘Chick’n Talk’n’ (feat. Mack 10 and Warren G).
In the end, Custom Cars & Cycles isn’t a bad debut for Rick Ross’ foundation, but the whole idea of such projects is to let your crew take center stage, and Triple C’s end up playing the back-up role once again due to the amount of big-named features on the record.
Hopefully with their next outing, the boss will trust his employees a little more, and let them fully take the reigns.
