In life, some things are just made to go together, and if you’re not involved, chances are that you’re cheating yourself out of an experience.

As for Hot 97’s Funk Master Flex, one combo he’s been especially good at over the years is basically every guy’s passion on this earth; music and cars.

Combining his music background with his love of automobiles, he’s brought car customizing to another level, with the help of his annual car and bike show.

Right now, the larger than life radio personality known for dropping bombs has teamed up with the Ford Motor Company in order to revamp one of their signature vehicles in the Taurus SHO; and “Mr. Don’t Get Gassed” is here to tell you how it all when down.

So buckle up, and enjoy the ride.

iHipHop.com: You and Ford hooked up to put a new look on the Taurus SHO. So how did Funk Master Flex put his spin on it?

Funk Master Flex: I went with the sinister guerilla look… I did something really dark, but you know; normally I do something a little brighter…

But this time around, I wanted to be a little different, and really push myself to see just what I could do…

iHipHop.com: Was this a case where Ford reached out to you for the project?

Funk Master Flex: I been with Ford for a while, like a couple of years now… So within that time, I’ve done like 10-15 cars for them…

So when they came to me with this one, it just seemed like a really good move…

iHipHop.com: Out of the 10-15 cars you’ve done for them, was this your favorite?

Funk Master Flex: Actually, we did a Ford Fusion about 3-4 years ago, and that is my favorite one so far…

iHipHop.com: Obviously everyone knows you as a world renown DJ for Hot 97 and as a car enthusiast, so would ever choose one over the other?

Funk Master Flex: I go through moods man… There’s like four months out of the year where I just want to be DJ’ing, and then there’s four months out of the year where deal with cars…

In the summer months, it’s hard man, because I just want to drive, and build stuff… But in the winter, you really can’t do any cars up in New York… [Laughs]

iHipHop.com: [Laughs]… How did you first get into the whole car-customizing racket?

Funk Master Flex: My dad had several cars when I was a kid, so when I had my chance to buy cars, I started to build off that… I like fast cars, but I also like American cars a lot too…

iHipHop.com: So you’re not too big on foreign cars?

Funk Master Flex: I’m definitely a homegrown kind f guy… [Laughs] The first car I ever done for Ludacris, I did a Cutlass for him…

iHipHop.com: Speaking of hooking cars up for people, what’s the craziest request you’ve had so far?

Funk Master Flex: I can’t tell about the craziest stuff that I’ve done, but I can tell you about the craziest stuff that I’ve seen… Like Wyclef [Jean], he had a fish tank in his car… [Laughs]

fmf-taurus-sho-sema-main1iHipHop.com: [Laughs]… When it comes to customizing cars such as the Taurus SHO, do you ever run into difficulty when you’re trying to create something different?

Funk Master Flex: The real difficulty comes sometimes when you’re trying to order parts, and that can really throw it off at times… So that can really hurt you, because it’s hard to change the path after that…

iHipHop.com: When you’re doing car, what’s your thought process? Do you use anything for motivation, or do you just go with the flow, and sees where it takes you?

Funk Master Flex: I go with the flow, and I might be a little late to achieve my goal, but I’m always going to get there in the end…

iHipHop.com: Any other cars besides the Taurus SHO that you’re working on right now?

Funk Master Flex: I’m doing a Mustang for T-Pain, and a Mustang for Drake for now…
