J. Cole’s Villematic leaks, like the title track and “Premeditated Murder,”  got plenty of heads patiently waiting for its release sometime in October. Apparently it won’t just be a collection of songs thrown together like many tapes that hit the internet. Jermaine broke down the process with Angela Yee recently and shed some light on its development.

“That’s (half of) the battle with this. Really when I decided to do this mixtape it was on some spur of the moment. I had just put out a song and was like “Fuck it let’s just put out a mixtape.” Now we’re putting out a mixtape and it’s like ‘this is like an album.’ But that’s what today’s game is. I’m calling it a mixtape for the sake of calling it a mixtape. But it’s really an album in a sense.” [Via Rapradar]

Honestly he could call Villematic whatever he wants. All I ask is a solid project that’ll hold me over until Cole World drops. Speaking of,  J. Cole also didn’t mention a date for debut and that’s a bit concerning. At any rate let’s hope Rule #4080 isn’t in play for the time being.
