What’s Up With Cudi?

Well mainly his album Man on the Moon 2: The Legend of Mr. Rager has been pushed back from “G.O.O.D. Music” day to a September 28th release.
Sometimes I forget how much of a superstar CuDi has become. One of the downfalls of refusing to expose myself to mainstream music outlets such as radio and TV, is that I miss out who most people are listening to/aware off. The kid is on his rockstar sh*t, crazy drugs and all.
But that’s my point, maybe CuDi is more of a rock star as opposed to a rapper. I consider myself to be a pretty big fan of hip-hop, but I’m not really into Cudi’s music these days. I’m not mad at him for making music. I just don’t really want to listen to it. Take his newest single with Kanye “Erase Me” for example. It just sounds like a corny top 40 rock Blink 182 song or something. I’m not saying that a lot of people won’t love it. I’m just saying that it isn’t very “hip-hop”. I guess it may just be the MIA effect. When artists build their brands on being the alternative “against the sytem” type persona’s when they are really down to sell out at any point.
I just wished that rappers actually rapped sometimes. Plus, I’m not saying this should be a definitive characteristic of a rapper, but would you honestly be afraid to fight Kid CuDi? I’m far from a tough guy, but I think I might be able to take him. And when internet rap nerds aren’t scared to fight you, well that’s never a good look.
