By: Hot Gossip Gal J Hood is making allegations that D Block won’t release him from his contract…hmmmm seriously doubting that statement. First of all there are only three stars of D Block and he ain’t one of them…second of all why oh why would anyone want to keep him when he aint making them no money…and he hasn’t, isn’t and never will and thirdly I think he gotta stop tying his doo rag too tight as the pressure is affecting his mind…
By: Rizoh If you’re among those skeptics who believe that Kanye’s “Big Brother” is a diss to Jay-Z, you have something in common with Roc-a-Fella Records co-founder Dame Dash. Dash recently told BET.com that he sees the song, which many believe to be a tribute, as a subliminal diss. “It sounds like a sneak dis record to me. You gotta understand certain things about Kanye; he doesn’t go at things like the average person does,” Dash explained to BET.com. “I feel like if he has something to say, he has to pose it in that way or he can’t communicate it at all. And that was the only way he could express why he doesn’t understand why he’s treated that way. It’s not like he could be gangsta about it and say,’Yo, this n***a’s playing me.” Dash continued that there is a public misconception about the song’s true message. “I didn’t think it was a very complimentary record. N***as saying n***a on their d**ks and that was some real disrespectful stuff. I might have choked Kanye out for that.” “Big Brother,” which appears on the platinum-selling Graduation CD, finds Kanye griping about being relegated to the backburner in his early years at Roc-a-Fella: “Only thing I wanna know is why I get looked over…Big Brother saw me at the bottom of the totem/Now I’m on the top and every body on the scrotum.”
By: Rizoh Jay-Z is taking an unconventional marketing approach with the release of his 10th studio album, American Gangster. The Def Jam prez just announced his decision to remove the album from iTunes. To ensure that consumers enjoy the album in its entirety, individual tracks from American Gangster will not be available for purchase via Apple’s digital retail store. Now, you may be wondering why Jay-Z would be willing to undermine sales of his new CD by removing it from the increasingly popular iTunes store. Wonder no more. Jay’s plan for the album exceeds sales and numbers. “As movies are not sold scene by scene,” says Jay-Z via a statement, “this collection will not be sold as individual singles.” American Gangster, which was inspired by the Ridley Scott movie of the same name, is in stores now.
By: Hot Gossip Gal Amy Freaks Out Snoop Turns out Snoop was trying to lend a helping hand to lost girl Amy Winehouse at the MTV Europe awards..he went to the Back to Black singers dressing room to share a blunt I guess before performing but came close to being smacked about the head with a bowl of pasta…Amy allegedly was having a ‘moment’…one that no-one appears to be able to control. Poor Snoop, he didn’t know which way to look. Get Your Money Right Ok the Young Uns were out in full effect in the A the other day, supporting The Hip-Hop Action Summit Network ‘Get Your Money Right.’ The event was hosted by Free and the likes of Young Joc and Yung Berg were in the house explaining to people how to save their pennies. Save that cash kids..invest in something better than a sneaker collection or a range of Fendi purses.
By: Rizoh Akon has added yet another feather to his hat, with his multiple award wins at the 2007 World Music Awards. ‘Kon, whose stellar hits include “Ghetto” and “Locked Up,” bagged three accolades at the event. He won “Africa’s Best Selling Artist” and the “World’s Best-Selling Internet Artist. He also clinched the “World’s Best Selling R&B Artist” award ahead of Fergie, Beyonce, and Rihanna. “You are witness to seeing me receive any kind of award for music the first time in my life,” Akon commented at the ceremony. Akon wasn’t the only major winner of the night though. 50 Cent picked up “World’s Best Selling Hip-Hop Artist” award for Curtis. Rihanna was another big winner, taking honors for World’s Best Selling Pop Female Artist and Female Entertainer of the Year.
By: Rizoh If you thought 50 Cent was going to retire after his faux SoundScan duel with Kanye West, you thought wrong. 50 is currently touring select dates around the globe. His next stop will be in India, where he’ll get to perform for the first time. 50 will play live in the relatively large MMRDA Grounds on November 18th, where 15,000 fans will see him perform a string of hits, both old and new. By: Hot Gossip Gal Curtis Beat Up? Well here he is arriving with Lloyd Banks at Dublin airport. Seems to have done something to his arm. I heard he and Ciara were all lovely dovey at the World Music Awards this past weekend. Very slow day for gossip as you can tell. TI Bodyguards May Not Testify Now WTF is this about? I heard from a questionable source that the dude who grassed up Tip might not testify as he doesn’t want to see Tip go to jail ..what a dumbass if this is true, the Feds will have this case wrapped up like a Xmas gift with or without his testimony.
By: Rizoh R&B diva Mariah Carey is one of the first major artists to board the ringle bandwagon. Carey is set to re-release her seasonal masterpiece “All I Want for Christmas is You” as a ringle, which is a CD that contains a single and a ringtone, this holiday. The ringle will include a JD-powered remix of the song, as well as a bonus jingle “Miss You Most (At Christmas Time).” The CD will hit stores on Nov. 27 via Sony/Legacy Recordings. You can also pre-order it from Amazon.com.
By: Rizoh Barry Bonds has threatened to ignore the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame, including his own induction ceremony, if the Cooperstown-based museum proceeds with its plan to display an his asterisk-marked home run ball. “I won’t go. I won’t be part of it,” Bonds said in his TV interview with MSNBC’s Jim Gray. “You can call me, but I won’t be there.” For the uninitiated, Bonds is referring to the ball with which he landed No.756. Hip-hop fashion mogul Marc Ecko purchased the ball for 750,000 through an auction and then conducted an online poll asking the public whether the ball should be violated with an asterisk and sent to Cooperstown. “You cannot give people the freedom, the right to alter history, you can’t do it,” Bonds said.
By Quibian Salazar-Moreno With all the buzz and top box office earnings over the weekend, Showtime has announced that they are teaming with Forest Whitaker to produce “Mr. Untouchable,” a drama series based on the life and times of Harlem heroin dealer, Leroy ‘Nicky’ Barnes. In the film ‘American Gangster’, Barnes is portrayed by Cuba Gooding Jr., but there’s no word on who will portray the gangster in the drama series. According to Variety, the series will tell the story of how Barnes built a drug empire in the 1970s that rivaled that of the Italian Mafia. It will show how he rose to great heights, but with his success coming at the expense of his Harlem community. The show will also detail the government’s war on drugs and how it failed for years to bring Barnes down. There’s no word on when production will begin or when Showtime plans to begin airing the series.
By: Hot Gossip Gal I heard this is now official. Kiss has signed to the Roc. Rumors were circulating that The Lox were signing with Def Jam too and I wouldn’t say that isn’t happening just yet either. Signing at this time of year is normally a tax write off for labels…lets not hope thats the case for Jada.
