By Quibian Salazar-Moreno According to the New York Post, The Game was arrested in New York over the weekend for impersonating a police officer. Apparently the rapper told a cab driver to run red lights because he was an undercover cop in a hurry. They drove 13 blocks before a real officer pulled them over for reckless driving. But Game’s lawyer Jeffrey Lichtman said the charges are ridiculous and is a new low for the NYPD. "This harassment of The Game and other hip-hop artists by the NYPD has got to stop – and a painful loss at trial may be just the solution," Lichtman told the New York Post. Lichtman also said that the cab driver was passing the buck so he could get out of a ticket. Apparently, NYPD had been following The Game the entire time he’s been in New York.

By:Rizoh Michael Jackson took the stage in the U.K. for the first time in nine years. His performance at this year’s World Music Awards, hosted in London, was met with a great deal of disappointment, according to BBC News. Jackson, 48, was expected to perform his hit song "Thriller," a responsibility he designated to young R&B singer Chris Brown. Jackson, who scooped a tribute award for selling over 100 million albums throughout his career, told the media that there was a misunderstanding that he would perform "Thriller." He didn’t perform "Thriller," but his rendition of "We Are The World" was also slammed by critics. MJ reportedly struggled to hit the high notes and inexplicably stopped the performance midway. He then left the stage amidst boos from the crowd. Fans, who paid as much as $200, expressed their disappointment after the performance. "I should have just stayed at home and watched it on TV… We should definitely get a refund," griped one fan. Organizers of the World Music Awards said that they were not aware fans had complaint regarding the event. They also offered some explanations for ending Jackson’s performance abruptly, saying that the show was running too long and breaking the venue’s noise curfew.
By Quibian Salazar-Moreno After stealing the show on Nelly’s hit single “Grillz”, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Ali & Gipp keep the chemistry moving with their new album, Kinfolk. Ali (a member of Nelly’s St. Lunatics) and Gipp (founding member of Dungeon Family and Goodie Mob) have tapped Nelly, Bun B, Cee-Lo, Three 6 Mafia, David Banner, Juvenile and others to contribute to the album. "Gipp and I clicked instantly because we’re both leaders of our respective collectives and because neither of us likes to talk too much," Ali said. "So when we say we gonna do a record together, we actually do a record together. We got along from the jump. I went to college in Atlanta, and I’d see the Goodie MOB perform. Years later we’d meet through industry travels. Then in 2003 I was in LA recording the Sweat and Suit album with Nelly, and Gipp was there for some movie business. I called him and said, ‘Come holler at us.’ We did a song together called "Butterfly Doors" [included on Kinfolk] and we loved it, everybody loved it, so from that point on we were just like, let’s do a whole album together." The album drops on December 12 and Gipp promises that the album won’t be your run-of-the mill hip-hop album. "We’ve always believed hip-hop was an innovative culture," Gipp said "A culture where, instead of doing what people around you are doing, you take it to another level every time.”

Jay-Z has finally responded to Jim Jones steady taunting of late with a direct Jim Jones diss track entitled "Brooklyn". Maybe it took a little beef to rattle Jay-Z and bring back that raw Brooklyn Jigga flow we haven’t heard in quite some time. Jigga cleverly raps over Jim Jones’ club hit "We Fly High" (Ballin), "Its over for you Dames," a subliminal directed at both Dipset and Dame Dash. You can check the track in our Featured Audio section.
By:Rizoh Next time you hear Akon’s signature "Konvict muuziiik" it will most likely be on an R&B track. TLC singer Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas has signed a deal with Akon’s Konvict Muzik label, where she’ll release her solo debut in 2007. A distribution deal via Interscope is also in place, according to Billboard magazine. Akon told Billboard that he wants the world to reconnect with Chilli, who he described as an incredible artist. Joining Akon in the production department are certified hit-makers Timbaland, will.i.am, and Missy Elliott. The untimely death of TLC member/rapper Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes, in 2002, brought the trio’s career to a partial halt. The surviving members T-Boz and Chilli managed to release one album, 3D, in the absence of Left Eye.

By Quibian Salazar-Moreno Nowadays, hip-hop is just a bit inappropriate for kids under 18 so Target has teamed up with GMG Entertainment to create hip-hop kids can listen to. The Target CD Lil Jams is an all hip-hop and R&B album that features some of kid-friendly hip-hop hits recreated by children. As an added bonus, the disc’s lone original cut “My New Boyfriend” is performed Sierra Simone and produced by her dad Cee-Lo (of Goodie Mob and Gnarls Barkley). By Quibian Salazar-Moreno Young Jeezy is wasting now time and is striking while the iron is hot. After dropping the much celebrated and platinum selling Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 last year, Jeezy is gearing up to drop The Inspiration on December 12. For this album, Jeezy tapped Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, R. Kelly, Keyshia Cole, Three 6 Mafia, Timbaland, T.I., and Young Buck to contribute to the project. For those of you who can’t wait until December for some new Jeezy tunes, you can cop the new DJ Drama mixtape, I Am the Street Dream. This time Jeezy isn’t rhyming over everyone else’s beats, the collection is of mostly original songs that won’t appear on his album. It’s already being compared to 2004’s Trap or Die mixtape, which got Jeezy his deal with Def Jam.
